Enough, O princes of America?

Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: !!Basta ya, oh príncipes de Israel! Dejad la violencia y la rapiña. Haced juicio y justicia; quitad vuestras imposiciones de sobre mi pueblo, dice Jehová el Señor. (RVR 1960)

Okay so I am using a play on words her but the theory is a sound one (I hope) so hear me out please.

CONTEXT:

In Chapter 45 the Lord is giving instructions for dividing up the Holy Land where the priest and temple will be dedicated to the LORD v.1-4 , another section just for the  Levites (priests) to live v.5, a portion for the city v.6a portion for the rulers (Government) with the residual for the people v.7-8.

It is easy to see how this can be applied to modern times and how our main text is applicable. While here in America we obviously do not have “the Holy Land” to divide up, land and property is regularly divided up between individuals and the government. 

In many cases individuals have infringed upon Government lands and in just as many if not more the Government has infringed (they call it Imminent Domain) upon the land and rights of individuals.

What does God say about all this, let us break it down: 

“Thus says the Lord God: Enough,

God says, enough is enough. DO not take advantage of your position of authority. All those in Government would well to remember whom it is that got them there. It was not some high paid lobbyist, campaign strategist or their party it was God. Romans 13:1

O princes of Israel! Put away violence and oppression,

Okay here is where I went astray, O princes of{America}Yet I think you can see the connection the as it was then and now refers to the ruling class. Put away violence and oppression, who is being oppressed? In direct context we can relate it to those whose lands are scooped up against their desires by Imminent Domain. We can also apply it to the current COVID-19 crisis see the next section. 

and execute justice and righteousness. 

I have long said after reading and studying Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2:13-17 Christians are to be subject to the principal authorities appointed over them by God. EXCEPT when those authorities ask and or require us to do something illegal, immoral or unethical. 

God here is calling upon them to execute justice and righteousness ALWAYS not just when they feel like it. During the current COVID-19 crisis we can find some very good examples.

First I think the Feds did the right thing leaving it up to each state to make the mandates. 

But as usual some states are so screwed up it is sad beyond belief. 

You can get an abortion but not heart surgery

You can buy lotto, booze and weed but not a child car seat   

$500 fines for going to church in your car but its okay to have Lowes and Walmart full

Cease your evictions of my people, declares the Lord God.

While I have not heard of anyone getting evicted (literally forceful seizure) during this current crisis, God’s point here goes deeper. CEASE all your illegal, immoral or unethical activities.

We, and I believe God have had ENOUGH! It is time to stop messing around and get back to doing as the framers of the Constitution intended nothing more, nothing less. 

In case them have forgotten here is a reminder of what they have sworn to uphold:

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
