In our text today two things should be noted about the cross. In Paul’s day, the cross was used for the most heinous of purposes, death by crucifixion. To anyone witnessing such an act, the cross became a symbol of pain and torment. No “sane” man would look upon the cross with pleasure. That is until the crucifixion of Christ Jesus and a group of “insane” followers of Christ who understood the significance of that one cross.
