Civil Advocates

We all know the Bible clearly states that we need and have as TRUE BELIEVERS, Romans 8:17, Heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven and Advocate, The Holy Spirit John 14:23-29 will speak on our behalf to the Father and guide us in the path of communication that best glorifies God.

Paul and John were both recording actions a Christian should take against another Believer. Yet today it is more and more common for Non-Believers, Pagans Heathens, or the lost call them what you may to sue, harass, or otherwise engage legally Christians individually or Corporately. That is where groups like ADF come in.

2022: Your Impact in Review
Mike: This past year we saw threats to freedom increase—from overreaching federal authorities to local school districts pushing harmful ideologies.

But—praise be to God—it was also a year of significant victory. Victories that contributed to our efforts to secure “Generational Wins” for freedom and keep the doors open for the Gospel.

A Generational Win achieves a significant victory that changes the law and culture of the nation for a generation and is sustained by deliberate action so that the triumph endures for generations to come.

Here are just a few of the big wins that your support helped make possible in 2022:
• Crucial victory against the Biden administration’s unlawful national COVID-19 vaccine mandate for private employers through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which brazenly ignored the constitutional limits on the federal government’s power.  On January 13th, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision to halt implementation of the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for large, private employers. We’ve followed this victory up by asking courts to immediately halt a New York City mandate that forces city employees to be injected with the COVID-19 vaccine against their sincere religious beliefs or lose their jobs.

 • Finally—the end of Roe. In June, we rejoiced to see something that many thought we might never see in our lifetimes: the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision.  ADF was honored to be able to work alongside Mississippi in drafting the Gestational Age Act and to serve on the Mississippi legal team that defended the law in the Supreme Court. Now that Roe has been defeated, the effort to defend women and their unborn children has moved to the states. ADF is already working with legislatures in over a dozen states to ensure that life as a human right is protected across the country, and babies are being saved!
• Important free speech case reaches SCOTUS. On December 5th, Kristen Waggoner, CEO, president, and general counsel of ADF, argued before the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of graphic artist and website designer Lorie Smith. Lorie serves people from all walks of life, including those who identify as LGBT, promoting messages through her custom work consistent with her beliefs. But a Colorado law requires her to say things she doesn’t believe. We’re defending Lorie’s First Amendment right—and the right of all Americans—to speak freely, without fear of government punishment. We’re praying for the Justices as they consider Lorie’s case. A decision should be issued by June.
Again—it’s clear that without the help and support of freedom-loving Americans like you, none of this would be possible. Check out our Impact Report to see your generosity at work.
