We Begin our “Series in Genesis“
BEFORE READING GENESIS 1, I RECOMMEND READING JOHN GILL’S INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK OF GENESIS
Chapter CONTEXT from MHCC: We have three things in this chapter:—I. A general idea given us of the work of creation (v. 1, 2). II. A particular account of the several days’ work, registered, as in a journal, distinctly and in order. The creation of the light the first day (v. 3-5); of the firmament the second day (v. 6-8); of the sea, the earth, and its fruits, the third day (v. 9-13); of the lights of heaven the fourth day (v. 14-19); of the fish and fowl the fifth day (v. 20-23); of the beasts (v. 24, 25); of man (v. 26-28); and of food for both the sixth day (v. 29, 30). III. The review and approbation of the whole work (v. 31).
This is the 1st Book in the Pentateuch, the First Chapter in God’s Holy Word, and has been the debate of many since first uttered and put to paper. Here we have the account of God creating the universe, and all that is within it, including animals and man. The debates seem to come about because while some subjects in the Bible are long and drawn out all of creation is handled here and in Chapter 2. Folks will always question did it take Six (6) literal days, whether there was something pre-existing, or did God really speak it all into being on the first day.

| Ge 1:24-25. | cattle, wild beasts, and creeping things; |
| Ge 1:26-28. | creates man in his own image, blesses him; |
| Ge 1:29-31. | grants the fruits of the earth for food. |
One thing is for sure, as a Believer, a Christian, call yourself what you may, we CAN NOT reject the Biblical creation story. We CAN NOT accept the Bible as a half-truth when it claims to be wholly True.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word of truth and for giving me a clear understating of the Biblical foundation of the creation of the world, through a plain reading of Genesis. We pray for those that have been blinded to the truth by the enemy of our soul.. and pray that in Your goodness and grace, many will recognise the error of humanistic philosophies; liberal theology and false religious systems and be convicted of sin and righteousness and judgement so that together with us they may be saved by grace through faith in Christ – to His honour and glory, AMEN.
“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:31)
