The fictional wall separating “Church and state” became a real issue some 30 or 40 years ago. At that time, however, there was never any mention, nor do I believe a thought of separating American citizens. While we differed in our interpretation of Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Church, we were still Americans and treated each other accordingly. Civility was the norm of the day, no matter which camp you hung your hat in.
Today, however, all resemblance to civility and even morality appears to have ended. There is an ever-increasing divide between those on the left and those on the right in America. I find it very disheartening that so many are spewing hatred (true hate speech) for this nation that I, for one, fought for and feel blessed to live in.
I have written extensively about the separation of church and state. It boils down to we are not a Christian Nation (theocracy) but a nation founded upon Judeo-Christian Principles. This is only a point of contention for the ill-informed. Sadly, their number seems to grow daily. Please join me in prayer for our Nation (see link below) before reading the study. May God’s divine hand of providence never leave His faithful. Amen
