As I was thinking of the top story of this past year, two thoughts came to mind: the inept corruption of the Biden administration and President Trump’s surprising victory. Basically, the 2024 election was the top story, and of course, God provided an easy solution in my inbox with a few excellent articles on these matters. Before we get into the main article, I want to share the following:
What does the Bible say about government?
You will note that we, as Christians, are to obey laws and elected officials until said laws or officials order us to do something that is against the law of God. Having this proper Worldview is a foundational part of being a good citizen and Christian.

The obvious choice for the top story of 2024 is the presidential election. It’s also one of the top worldview stories of 2024, but not because a Christian worldview should ever be reduced to political loyalties. A Christian vision of life and the world is certainly much more than politics, but it is not less.
After his days in the White House, Chuck Colson never publicly endorsed a political candidate, a practice to which the Colson Center remains committed. However, Chuck did describe voting as “our duty as citizens of the kingdom of God.” Citing St. Augustine, he urged Christians, “to be the best citizens of the society we live in. To do that, we must vote.”

PRAYER
Will you pray with us?
Soon, a new administration and the 119th Congress will be sworn in. Already our team is on Capitol Hill talking to members and their staff about the need for pro-faith, pro-family, and pro-freedom policies in 2025 and beyond.
Our incoming leaders have their work cut out for them. The list of issues they must address is unprecedented in its scope and severity. Everything from war raging abroad, to $36 trillion in national debt, competition with China, unprecedented illegal immigration, creeping one-world government, and more.
Ultimately, as believers, we know that success for our country will only come from humbling ourselves before the Lord. Acknowledging Him as sovereign, provider, protector, and creator. We need to pray our leaders seek the Lord in the new year, that they appeal to Him every step they take in Washington, D.C., and learn to place their trust in Him, if they don’t already know Him.
The apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, commanded the Church to continually pray for all those in positions of authority:
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4 ESV)
In light of this command, Family Research Council Action (FRC Action) invites you to join us in praying the following prayer for the next Trump administration and the 119th Congress:
Father, we ask that you bless President-elect Donald Trump and his team. Give them wisdom as they assemble the next administration.
We pray for the selection of federal leaders who understand what the founders understood: our rights do not come from the government. Instead, governments are put in place to protect the rights that You, our Creator, have given us. These rights include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We pray that the chosen leaders would be strong men and women of character who prioritize the well-being of the people they serve over their own personal ambition. We ask that You would show them grace and cause them to turn toward You. Save those who are lost and use those who already serve You to be a light for Your kingdom.
We ask that integrity, truth, and wisdom would prevail and guide President-elect Trump, his cabinet, and Congress as they lead the United States of America during this critical time in our nation’s history.
In addition, we ask that you bless the incoming 119th Congress and use America’s representatives and senators to institute justice and promote righteousness. May they live up to their oath of office and serve their constituents well by doing what is right, even when it is unpopular.
We acknowledge that Christians cannot afford to be complacent. Together, we must remain prayerful and vigilant, especially as a new Congress and president prepare to take office. May the Church stand strong for the truth of Your Word and fulfill its mission to be salt and light so that the people in this and all nations would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
May all that is done be to Your glory and for Your name’s sake.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
