Everyone no matter what they claim desires to be honored. They either want to be recognized for individual accomplishments or for a group/team/unit achievement. In the military, we had badges and ribbons for all sorts of individual achievements honors, and quite a few for the unit as well.
An individual soldier and especially a good leader usually takes someone with the best traits of a Type A Personality1. One trait that often is lacking in many hard-charging leaders is humility or being humble. I am not referencing being a pushover (you would never find that in a Type A) I mean the ability to understand and show that there can and is (God) someone greater than you in charge. Leading by example while not seeking individual glory and honor.

Honor for the Humble
“Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you” (James 4:10).
God graciously bestows every spiritual blessing on the humble.
