Since 3600 BC the world has known only 292 years of peace. In that period, stretching more than 55 centuries, there have been an incredible 14,531 wars in which over 3.6 billion people have been killed.

Bible Truth Behind the Quote:
“Deliver me, O LORD, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, who plan evil things in their heart and stir up wars continually” (Psalm 140:1-2).

Back in 1970 at the height of the war in Viet Nam Motown Records recording artist Edwin Star released what would become an anthem for the anti-war crowd. Back in that day I 80% agreed with the sentiment of the song, the “war” in VN was a no-win war for our troops and therefore we needed to stop wasting US lives.
So why the 80% agreement and not 100%? Is not all war good for absolutely nothing? NO!!!
Just as when we read the Bible or any other book, document, etc., we must consider the Whole of it’s contents (the Whole Counsel of God) we must here consider the whole of the statement. Can war under any circumstance be good? Let us look and the best example in the past 100 years, WWII.
The German Nazi Party, officially the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler and an assortment of demented underlings set out to conquer and sanitize the world into their version of “utopia.” The allied forces ( including China and Russia) aligned against the Axis Powers led by Nazis and Japan to oppose this evil. I would say that the opposition to EVIL is a good thing even when (and only if God calls us to) war is required.
What does the Bible say about war? Is there ever a just reason for it?
