The title of today’s devotional at first had me thinking only one? Surely churches have many needs, but after reading it I realized that applied to the main mandate of “the Church” being “make disciples of all nations” given by Christ to his disciples following his death and resurrection (Matt. 28:16–20; Mark 16:15–18; Luke 24:46–49; John 20:21–23; Acts 1:8),1 it makes perfect sense.
One has only to read or watch any news source today and we see nothing but anger, chaos, and evil being played out in every corner of the world. In America this once great nation has been on the downward slide for decades. Today’s devotional reminds us (the Church) of the need to show kindness not only to our fellow believers but even more so to those living in the world of sin.
To be clear, I nor this devotion in my opinion are advocating for the so-called social gospel (the late 19th century version or the more recent movement). The Great Commision demand we “Go forth” to grow the church not bring in the world.

A 2023 poll revealed that 84% of Americans are angrier than a generation ago, with 42% of those polled admitting to feeling angrier themselves. A recent Pew Research Center survey shows nearly half (47%) of US adults believe public behavior is ruder than before the Covid-19 pandemic. Surveys are not everything, but they are not nothing either. It seems that Americans have the general impression that the country is becoming angrier. This situation has created an opportunity for the church, and we had better take advantage of it. But how?
