You’re in a crowded room full of friends and family, yet you are so uncomfortable that even your brain is screaming, SHUSH!!! If you think this scenario is unfamiliar and could never happen to you or someone you know, think again.
In the United States, 1 in 5 citizens experience some form of mental health issue(s). The percentage is much higher if you are a former Military, First Responder, or from a few other high-stress work environments. An estimated 41% of veterans need mental health care programs every year.1
Everyone knows someone who suffers from some form of Mental Health issue. They likely have just kept it hidden due to the stigma attached. This is especially true in the church. We (especially Church Leaders) should regularly encourage our members to acknowledge (I always joke that it is time for my check up from the neck up 🙃) and seek help even if unsure what is happening. Having MH issue(s) in today’s chaotic evil world should never seem out of place. We really need to be thanking God that everyone is not affected. Holding it in can have far-reaching negative results.

Mental health struggles are real, even in rooms full of love and laughter. You’re absolutely right, churches should be safe spaces to talk, heal, and seek help without shame. 🙏
We are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), not to pretend they don’t exist. I’m grateful you’re using your voice to break the silence. Let’s keep reminding others: You are not alone, and healing is holy.
My apologies for being late on this post, trying to catch up…
God Bless You, today and always…
