“Preaching is that ordinance of God, sanctified for the begetting of faith, for the opening of the understanding, and for the drawing of the will and affections {worship} to Christ.”

Preaching as an Act of Worship
Eric Dodson
When considering how to preach, we often think about certain words: faithfully, exegetically, expositionally, passionately, clearly. I’d like to take this post to encourage you to preach doxologically. Preach in a way that drives you and your listeners to unbridled worship.
The pattern of Scripture shows that every topic in biblical truth, every theme that affects your life and the life of your church, should lead to praise. Preaching and teaching should lead to doxology.

Whatever we can say of modern Bible-believing Christians, it can hardly be denied that we are not remarkable for our spirit of worship. The gospel as preached by good men in our times may save souls — but it does not create worshipers. Our meetings are characterized by cordiality, humor, affability, and fleshly methods — but hardly anywhere do we find gatherings marked by the overshadowing presence of God. We manage to get along on correct doctrine, fast tunes, pleasing personalities and religious amusements! How few, how pitifully few are the enraptured souls who languish for love of Christ. How is the gold tarnished, and the silver become lead!

Tom, I agree the “church” has lost her way. She seems more interested in doing whatever it can to attract sheep in, when the commnd is to Go, Make, Disciples.
Of the 1000+ commands in the New Testament https://eternalevangelism.com/resources/1050-new-testament-commands/ or https://www.biblicalresearchreports.com/gods-commands-in-the-new-testament/ Jesus only issued seven(7) https://www.christianpost.com/news/7-commandments-jesus-gave-us-from-the-gospels-to-follow.html. Of those Matthew 28:18-20 / Mark 16:14-18 is the only command to “GO” and “MAKE DISCIPLES.” These are strong action words designed to get the church out in the world not bring the world into the church (rock band, rock walls, coffe bars, and the list goes on). I have heard the word “doxology” many times before, but I never learned what the word actually means. I just associated the word “doxology” with a certain song that is a regular part of the church service. When you put so much emphasis on it, I finally took the time to look it up.

The church is supposed to make disciples. We are supposed baptize and teach. I don’t think we are doing a good job.
