Flood, the The catastrophic deluge of water that “covered the earth” and from which only Noah and his family and the animals were saved in the ark (Gen. 6–8). The story shows an undoing of creation and a return to primeval watery conditions (Gen. 1:2, 9) from which a new world could begin.

COMMENT
For every article published in support of the Biblical account of the Great Flood, there are likely ten that oppose it. I often wonder why the Bible (and anything associated with it) is attacked so viciously. My only conclusion is John 15:19 (AMP) If you belonged to the world, the world would love [you as] its own and would treat you with affection. But you are not of the world [you no longer belong to it], but I have chosen you out of the world. And because of this, the world hates you.
Check out this article and the inherent prejudice of its author: Did Noah’s flood really happen? Note how the amount of water needed to cover the Earth is claimed not to exist. How, even if a Great Flood did occur, places like Mount Everest would still be exposed. How so many others have stories of a Great Flood (Duh), so the Bible version has to come from them…
How about we understand that some Bible accounts are figurative as much as factual? The Earth was covered in floodwaters, maybe not all submerged, but enough so that Noah and the ark floated for a while. How about all these “other” stories come from a single central source, as Noah and his family repopulated the Earth?
I think a lot of folks look at the Flood with the wrong perspective. I like Ken Ham’s quote below on this:
As we read Genesis 6-9, we find the truth of Mr. Ham’s quote. The inhabitants of the Earth in the time of Noah had become depraved beyond reform. God passed righteous judgment upon them while at the same time showing Mercy (Noah and his family) and a way to salvation for all od His (God’s) creation.
