Saturday’s Soldier Devotional – 06/03/2023

Last night my wife and I watch the movie “A Few Good Men.” In it, I was reminded that in the Marines as in life some folks are “Always Faithful” to the wrong things.

The faithfulness of God’s perfect loyalty and consistency in being true to his name, his character, and his word. And as a designation of Christians, means full of faith, trustful, and not simply trustworthy. Also: Dependability; Faith; Faithful; Fidelity (LOGOS ed.10) Fidelity means a commitment to something, being all in on the matter.  A state of personal dedication to something or someone, which results in actively promoting and working for their good and well-being.

Note the very end that, true faithfulness, the true Sempre Fidelis code of the US Marines will ALWAYS result in actively promoting and working for their good and well-being. It is never selfish, or self-centered nor does it work against the good of others. In the movie, Col. Jessup learns this lesson the hard way, and Lt. Kaffee learns that being faithful to what is right that is having integrity, trumps being afraid of the “established norm.”
