Back in Sept of 1992, the British Rock Band Radio Head released their debut single “Creep.” Everytime I hear someone expound the Gospel message about how special someone is I am 1st nauseated then reminded of the 2nd verse of the song:
I don’t care if it hurts
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I’m not around
You’re so f*&^in’ special
I wish I was special
I may seem funny to use this as part of a devotional, but since most of the “Churches” have brought the affairs of the world into their worship services, I can at least borrow a paragraph from the world now and then.
The desire to be special, call it what it is PRIDE, is a straight forward SIN in the Bible. (Mark 9:34-36, Mark 10:35-45, are but two examples amongst the Apostles.
Instead of the normal devotional with me writing something around biblical context, we are going to do a Bible Drill of sorts. Here is a list of 73 verses all related to pride: What does the Bible say about the Sins of Pride,
Look them over see how many of them you fail or fall into. No reporting needed. Through it all remember It is NEVER about you/us; It is ALWAYS about the Sovereign God of Creation.
