From Berean Baptist Church Ceres, CA

Dear Brethren,

Greetings too all of you in the name of our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is with great joy I write to you and anticipate seeing you soon in Indiana.

It was with great regret that I was not able to be with you last year but God’s wisdom is perfect and good.

We have experienced God’s grace abundantly at Berean Baptist. The last time I was with you I was considering the possibility that God could be ending our church plant effort. Immediately upon leaving the GA, I was contacted by our brother Bob Curly who informed me of a building opportunity near us.

We have been meeting in that place for almost a year and a half now. When we moved there, we could barely support a small supplemental salary for me. The cost of the building, while it is a great deal, was more than we could afford. Through the gracious support of a few churches and individuals, we were able to secure the building for a year. After a year, through the addition of several families, we are now able to independently cover the expenses of the building and the supplemental salary. Our budget is down to the penny for those things but the Lord is providing.

Our church body has grown together through a few trials. We have seen God’s hand as the church body has served as His hands and feet in serving one another.

Most recently we have started three home fellowship groups. This developed as an application from preaching through Ephesians and seeing the role of the body of Christ and the importance of Christian Community.

In June we will ordain two men to the office of deacon. This is a huge blessing for us as the one deacon we had moved down to Escondido to attend seminary.

The two men are Jim Holland and his son, Sean Holland. Both men have demonstrated the role of deacon without the official title which will make for a very smooth transition. They both have a sincere love for the Lord, His Word and His Church. They have been a huge blessing to me as they have stepped up and taken away from me many of the weekly responsibilities I have held for our first 6 years. Words cannot express the blessing this has been.

Sean Holland has been teaching our adults in Sunday school with a curriculum he has written on the life of Christ and the birth of the New Testament Church.

This weekend (April 19) our ladies will have their first ladies retreat at a cabin belonging to some friends of ours. Our men have also been meeting twice monthly and going through Jonathan Edwards Advice to Young Converts. This has been an exceptional time of growth as we see our need for growth in some very good basic Christian religion regardless of how long we have been saved. It has proved very fruitful.

Please continue to pray the Lord bless our church to be a light in our community. We are also still praying for the ability to support a pastor full time. We also would like to see the Lord raise up or send us another elder so we can have a plurality.

These things we ask of the Lord with great thankfulness for His faithfulness to us. He is good

We continue to pray regularly for our churches in ARBCA as well as the Missionary Updates we receive.

Thank you, brethren for your participation in the gospel ministry. It is my pleasure to serve alongside you in the kingdom of our risen Lord and Savior.

God Bless His church,
Robert Cole, Pastor

From Covenant Baptist Church, the Church Plant in Clarksville, TN

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We are always thankful to the Lord for your partnership with us in the work of the gospel here in Clarksville, and for your prayers in our behalf before the throne of grace.

For those of you who will be at the General Assembly next week, there is a fuller report of what the Lord has been doing here in Clarksville over the past year in the GA notebook.  But here are several matters for thanksgiving and prayer.

Join with us in thanking the Lord for His great mercy and blessings towards us here in Clarksville.  One recent blessing to our growing body has been the presence of Mark and Cheryl Hatfield.  Mark is an elder at Grace Baptist Church in Taylors, SC.  They have come to Clarksville for the months of March and April to assist in the work here.  As a church family we have been blessed by their warm hospitality.  We also have been blessed as Mark has preached to us from Colossians in our evening service.  We are also thankful to the Lord for bringing to us three families who are in the process of formally joining with us.  It is a great joy to see the Lord adding to our number those who are committed to Christ and His Church.  We also thank the Lord for the increased attendance at our weekly prayer meeting.  The times of prayer and fellowship have been a rich blessing.

Please continue to pray for the Lord to grow our forming church body in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Pray for the Lord to raise up elders and deacons in our midst as He sees fit.  Pray for us to be faithful witnesses of the Lord here in Clarksville.  Thank you again, brethren, for your prayers.

In Christ,
John Miller
Church Planter in Clarksville, TN
