2 PETER 1
CONTEXT: This book has a couple major themes, living our lives for Christ, being ever on the lookout for false teachers, and finally watching and waiting (prepared) for the Lord’s return. Matthew Henry breaks it down this chapter 1, as follows: Exhortations to add the exercise of various other graces to faith (1-11) The apostle looks forward to his approaching decease. (12-15) And confirms the truth of the gospel, relating to Christ’s appearing to judgment. (16-21)
Our text for today is found within that first theme, as Peter is encouraging the reader(s) to live a righteous life for Christ. Here in v.5-8, he lays out what many have deemed the “Seven (7) Christians Virtues.” Instead of my expounding upon them, I have linked each of them for further study.
