Instead of the usual Devotional today I am submitting for your reading and edification a short Sermon by J.C. Ryle. Thanks to my friend Steve Rebus @ The Whole Armour Of God for the inspiration for this.

Two of my favorite Ryle quotes are:

“My chief desire in all my writings, is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and make Him beautiful and glorious in the eyes of men; and to promote the increase of repentance, faith, and holiness upon earth.”

“I am one of those old-fashioned ministers who believe the whole Bible, and everything it contains!”

CONTEXT:

The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus needs no introduction or context that Ryle’s sermon will not provide. So I will leave it at that:

SERMON:

Riches and Poverty

J.C. Ryle, 1878

APPLICATION:

There is only one question that needs to be asked today are you Spiritually Rich or Poor?
