So Tues afternoon at 3 pm I said my goodbyes and under clear sunny and warm 88 degree skies I headed out for Shreveport, LA and my friend Pastor Earl Blackburn’s church Heritage Baptist as they were kind enough to left me crash there for the night.
Wed morning I left at 6 am headed to Arlington TX or as far as I could get until the first storm front came through. Well at around 9 am a lightening strike in the medium and decreasing visibility convinced me to get off the road. Before I could exit something flew by and struck the side of the trike (No real damage) fortunately I was able to get off and found the Quality Inn and Suites Canton, TX just off the exit. I pulled in under the canopy and the staff was very accommodating when I asked if I could hang out until the storm passed. After a few hours the forecast showed no let up until 5-6 pm so I was able to cancel my reservation in Arlington and decided to ride out the storm here.
Thurs 09 May 0445 leave Canton headed to Arlington the ride in was quite the adventure. I think folks believe my trike is a target of opportunity or something? Anyway dense fog, rain and slick roads added to the poor viability and drive in. But I finally made it to the meeting spot IHOP in Arlington safe and sound joining up with Hoofers Hooligans.
We started the day with a safety briefing, prayer (so honored to be the Chaplain with these folks) then headed out for our first fuel stop or so we thought. Hoofer had a surprise, we made a detour to a Veterans Memorial Park. The day took us west to Lamesa, Tx where we will be heading out for Deming, NM in a few hours.
Also please keep my family back home in prayer. The same storm I road through caused some serious flooding in my neighborhood. The water reached my back door. They are safe and it has gone down some but more rains are expected.
