Was the U.S. Constitution ratified by “Christian” States ?

Very interesting article, I have long said America was not founded as a “Christian Nation” (we are a Republic not a Theocracy) but founded upon Judeo-Christian principles by Christian Men.

American Minute with Bill Federer

Was the U.S. Constitution ratified by “Christian” States ?

George Washington dictated a “talk” to the Cherokee Nation, August 29, 1796:

“Beloved Cherokees, The wise men of the United States meet together once a year, to consider what will be for the good of all their people …

I have thought that a meeting of your wise men once or twice a year would be alike useful to you …

I now send my best wishes to the Cherokees, and pray the Great Spirit to preserve them.”

Twelve of the original 13 states sent delegates to Philadelphia. (Rhode Island boycotted the Convention.)

Instead of rewriting the Articles of Confederation, they drafted the U.S. Constitution.

George Washington opened the Constitutional Convention, stating:

“The event is in the hand of God.”

The 55 delegates who wrote the U.S. Constitution belonged to the following denominations:

- 26 Episcopalian,

– 11 Presbyterian,

– 7 Congregationalist,

– 2 Lutheran,

– 2 Dutch Reformed,

– 2 Methodist,

– 2 Quaker,

– 2 Roman Catholic,

– and Dr. Franklin, who called for prayer at the Constitutional Convention, June 28, 1787, stating:

”In the beginning of the contest with Great Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection….

Examining the “10 needs we must understand and live after choosing to serve the Lord” Part 6

Joshua 24:15 - ESV - Bible verse of the day - DailyVerses.net

One of my posts on 28 April, was entitled COVID-19 Is a Slow-Motion 9/11 in it Pastor Sam Rohrer of the American Pastors Network set forth 10 definitive needs every “Christian” must understand and live by after choosing to serve the Lord. I thought I would look at each one individually over the next two weeks.

{Note because of my deployments and the urge to write a typical devotional this is taking an extending time to complete 🙂 }

Understand that national blessing or national judgment hinges on the actions of the remnant.

(“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”—2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV)
 2 Chronicles 7:14 (AMP and RVR 1960)

I am not always well received in conservative Christian circles for this statement; “We are not a Christian Nation.” The God of the Holy Bible is not the Supreme ruling authority of this land we call the United State of America, that would make us a Theocracy much like Iran. I can assure you (do the research yourself) that was never the intent of the founding fathers.

I do continue to boldly argue that we were founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Not because the founding fathers were all perfect “Christians” which in any day and age would be laughable, but because they understood the need for high moral and ethical standards that man alone could not establish.

Why am I restating all this? Because I believe the Remnant spoke of is under National Judgement, along with this sinful nation. We have turned our backs on our Holy God. Not so you say, really how about:

The issue of school prayer came about in the 1962 ruling (Engel v. Vitale ), it has been more than 50 years since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against school-led or school-sponsored prayer; and we have seen the effects in every public  institution from elementary to college.

In the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled 7-2 that the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects the rights to life, liberty and property, entailed a “right to privacy” that included the right for a woman to procure an abortion up until “the point at which the fetus becomes ‘viable’.” Roe v. Wade effectively overturned all existing state laws against abortion.¹ The abortion clock continues to climb with over 61,000,000 babies murdered in the US alone since this decision.

Planned Parenthood claims (from their website) they are “Today, Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world.” They are in reality a tax payer funded abortion (murder) mill. They get according to the NY Times about $60 million annually through the federal program, known as Title X

Same Sex Unions were pretty much hush hush stuff when I was a kid. It was not until the 80’s when folks started to make waves about it. This culminated with the US Supreme courts Obergefell v. Hodges decision in 2015 making union legal in all 50 states.

Explain to me how a so called majority of America that to this day claim to be Christian continue to let these things that the bible calls an abomination happen? While we may be a slipping majority down to 65% from near 90% in the 1950’s who is to blame for America’s woes? Those who are prone to do abominations or those who idly stand by and let them happen?

We have been lied to and told for far to long that this wall, a separation of church and state exists in the Constitution.  It DOES NOT, at least not as those expounding opposition mean it. Pulpits across America need to get busy preaching the Word of God, nothing more nothing less, on subjects that are controversial. The flocks need to be informed, they need to be able to make solid biblical reasoned decisions when it comes time to vote.

No I am not telling pastors, elders, etc. to tell their congregants who to vote for or even specifically how to get involved, other than what the bible prescribes:

humble themselves, bow down to the Holy one

and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) Pray, pray, pray and pray some more,

My face seek His guidance in how you should proceed with voting and getting involved locally

and turn from their wicked ways, Our lethargic and complacent ways of not getting involved in the political landscape that has led our nation down this wrenched path.

then I will hear [them] from heaven, God hears the prayers of a righteous man

and forgive their sin and heal their land. It is never to late for the all powerful God of all creation to heal this Nation.

The List
  1. Develop a healthy fear of God. (Have no other god before Me—Exodus 20:1-6; Obey God, serve Him and fear Him—Deuteronomy 13:4; Rehearse history and teach of God’s power so your children learn to fear God—Deuteronomy 31:13; It is whole duty of mankind—Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)
  2. Re-embrace the biblical authority of Scripture. (All Scripture is profitable for life and living—2 Timothy 3:16: Living it establishes a person’s path—Psalm 119:11)
  3. Know that the ‘Church’ is disobedient, lethargic and asleep. (Christ’s warnings to the seven churches and to Laodicea—Revelation 2-3; Revelation 3:14-22)
  4. Be aware that 70% of the pulpits in America are occupied by ‘hirelings.’ (Hirelings refuse to warn of spiritual danger and the wolvesJohn 10:12-13)
  5. Be bold to identify and call out the false prophets in the wolves among us. (Christ warned of the false prophets and wolves—Matthew 7:15, Matthew 10:16, Matthew 24:24; Jesus warned of mass deception in the last days—Matthew 24:4-5)
  6. Understand that national blessing or national judgment hinges on the actions of the remnant. (“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”—2 Chronicles 7:14)
  7. Accept the reality that persecution is coming and is normal for the believer and those still standing for truth. (All who live according to God commands will suffer persecution—2 Timothy 3:12; the enemies of truth will persecute you—Luke 21:12; John 15:20)
  8. Discover that the preparation for prayer and meeting God’s requirements for prayer is far more important than the act of praying. (God demands a broken spirit and obedience before sacrifice—Psalm 51:16-17; God demands we pray His way: No unconfessed sin—Psalm 66:18)
  9. Realize that the continuance of freedom is a result of God’s blessing, which hinges on obedience and conformity to God’s commands. (Don’t forget that all blessings came from God and if you forget and become ungrateful, God will replace blessings with bondage—Deuteronomy 8:1-20, 1:19-20; 30:1-20)
  10. Understand that the choice for president or other elected leaders, while critically important, is secondary to repentance toward God and the choice for God. (Obey, and I’ll make even your enemies to be at peace with you—Proverbs 16:7)
