God’s Unfathomable Ways
2:8 humbled himself. Christ’s great act of humiliation that Paul highlights is the voluntary submission of Christ to the Father’s will that led to Christ’s death on the cross. The greatest need humanity has is to be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ selflessly and humbly did what was necessary to meet the needs of others, namely, to die on the cross as the sin-bearer. Paul’s message to the saints is to have the same mindset as Christ.
