When my kids were young I used to say “Knock it off or I will give you an altitude adjustment.” God many times has to do the same to those who boast not in Him but in themselves. (James 4)

An Attitude Adjustment

Chapter 27 deals with right and wrong attitudes. One’s attitude determines how one will respond to everything in this world. A boastful attitude is a foolish attitude, whether one is boasting about himself or what he will do in the future (27:1–2). Resentment and envy are two attitudes that foster dangerous conflict (27:3–4).
