The Old testament is full of references (83 in the KJV) to the “House of God.” The first being Genesis 28:17 and the last Zechariah 7:2. Most of the references are to building and or restoring the House of God to a proper place for His Glory. Others reference prayer and thanksgiving.
Of the 7 New Testament verses 3 references from the Gospels describe Jesus eating of the shewbread; Matthew 12:4, Mark 2:26, Luke 6:4. Two Ephesians 2:19 and 1 Timothy 3:15 are speak of the church as the House of God. Finally there are two verses Hebrews 10:21 and 1 Peter 4:17 that remind us we (born again believers) are the real temple, House of God.
