You are not BORN Free

The bible makes it clear we are all born slaves to sin (Psalm 51:5Romans 5:12Romans 3:23). Here Jesus is explaining that anyone who continually sins is a slave (think context of the times, slaves were lowest class of people) to that sin. He is showing that following sin demonstrates our love for the dark evil side of life (John 3:19).

He goes on to say that He Jesus, the Christ, the Bread of Life, is the only way to be set free from the bondage of that slavitude. How does one get out of the dark shadows of sin? We must enter into the light, the light that only Christ himself can bring forth John 8:12.

It is also important to point out one other thing here, lest we fail to take in the whole counsel of God. What Jesus is not saying is that everyone who sins is condemned and not a Christian. Only one man, Jesus walked the earth sinless. Neither you nor I will ever achieve that state short of glory. John in 1 John 1:5-10 explains it we are going to sin. The difference between a Christian and non is one will feel the pangs of guilt and confess their failure(s) striving evermore to please God. The other will continue in their worldly ways.
