PRAISE

 PRISON INMATES GRADUATE FROM THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

In a Mississippi maximum security prison, some 145 prisoners are graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The accredited Southern Baptist School first began offering prison courses in 1996 to Louisiana inmates, and now, along with expanding to Mississippi, the seminary is working in Georgia and Florida prisons as well. According to the report, the inmates study the Bible and are taught how to preach, evangelize and counsel. Graduates hope to become “missionaries” who can transfer to other state prisons to serve inmates there. Source: Intercessors Network

From Lisa Caton; Please keep my mother in your thoughts and prayers. I don’t think she’s going to be with us much longer. Pray for her comfort, peace of mind, fullness of heart, and freedom of spirit in her final days, hours, and moments that she might find the courage and strength she needs to let go and let God take her to a better life now, where she will be reunited with Dad, who passed such a short time ago. Pray that I might be God’s tender voice and loving hands in this situation, and bless her on her journey. Pray that everything comes to pass in divine order. Thank you.

Weekly Prayer Report invites you to join us in praying for the work being done in prisons throughout the country, and for the lives being touched by this ministry. This week, please pray:

 •for the parents of inmates. Pray their children will come to know Christ while incarcerated and come back alive in Him.

 •for Justice Fellowship and their efforts for juvenile justice reform. Ask for God’s favor before state leaders.

•for facilitators of the transformational ministry pre-release program at the Pontiac Correctional Center in Illinois.

 •for expansion of the Prisoners to Pastors program, which provides seminary-level Christian leadership education to members of the inmate church. Ask God to provide resources and leaders to multiply this program into every state.

 •for God to raise up men and women who are willing to “remember the prisoner” and lead the movement to reach mean and women behind bars.

Praise/Pray reports:

I cannot explain how it is miracle for us to get this offer from government, normally the requirements for such a waiver are many, it would require many residents(30) on the village to apply for it, and the district officials to approve, and the bureaucracies are so tedious, but Wells of Hope was just considered just like that. But now, Pray we need USd 3089 to pay for the supply and $ 2352 for the wiring etc. See letter of offer. We need this money as long as the offer can be valid!

Dear Everyone,

I apologize for the small print of this month’s newsletter.

I had fitted it into 4 pages, using smaller script for Eva’s testimony, and also for the account of Christmas, and the rest was in larger print. However, the type-setter changed the whole letter to the small script. I do hope you can read it all right.

The photo shows Eva with the prison team back in 2010. She is in the front row, 3rd from right, and Poncet is 1st from right, front row also.

I was sent an updated KMP list in December, and attach that as well. (Of course, Yusuf’s name does not belong there now!). Also enclosed is the women’s list with more of their birthdays on it than previously.

Thank you for your prayers and gifts over so many years; for your faithfulness in serving God by supporting our brothers and sisters in Kanater.

The Robinson’s Bluegrass Gospel Sing and Jam (traveling ministry to bluegrass festivals)

Prayer Needs:

We have a number of prayer needs this week. Please pray for Russ from New York who is currently in the hospital here in Florida with heart related issues. Fred from Maine is struggling with the aftermath of a major stroke; Sarah is going through treatments for leukemia. Annie, a young mother of four, from our home church is having such horrendous side effects from her treatments for a rare form of lymphoma and leukemia, Our friends, the Lane’s currently stationed in Belgium with the Air Force need prayer for conflict concerning their right to home school their children.

Lastly, we heard that a dear man from our home church passed away on Sunday. Brother Ron had been instrumental in helping us with our ministry in the early years. He was a kind hearted, gentle soul with a servant heart and we will miss him greatly. Please pray for his widow, Becky and their whole family.

Finally, we want to remind you of the Danny Stewart Bluegrass Cruise for January 2014. We signed up another couple while we were at the Naples festival. It will be a blast and we’d love to have you come. (for those of you still digging out from the major northeast storm, wouldn’t four days in the warm sunshine be wonderful?) Brethren,

Greetings from Chilliwack, B.C. We bless God for His continued goodness to us as a local church. We are experiencing some growth and for the most part are enjoying peace for which we give glory to Christ.

We recently celebrated our 15 year anniversary as a church. Dr. Richard Barcellos was with us and spoke on covenant theology on Saturday morning and then preached on the Lord’s Day. We had a fellowship meal together on Saturday night and several people gave public thanks to God for His grace in sustaining us and blessing us as a church.

We are currently preaching through the gospel of Matthew in our morning worship and hope to start soon on the Pastoral Epistles in our evening services. Our Wednesday night study is in the book of Deuteronomy. Additionally, a few men meet every other Saturday morning for theological study.

We are certainly not without our trials and difficulties, but all in all, we can testify that Christ is building His church here for which we are very thankful.

From Crosspoint Church in Asheville, North Carolina

Dear churches,

We are grateful to the Lord for his kindness and blessings, and are thankful to you for your prayers and support as an association. May our Savior bless you all and strengthen you as you live for him.

The Lord has been very good to us here at Crosspoint Church of Asheville, NC. The congregation has a very sweet spirit and a loving unity for which we are thankful. We continue to meet and grow together in God’s word, and are seeking to reach out the surrounding community. We see a great need in this area for the simple witness of the gospel of Christ, and we are seeing that gospel truly help people in their need. 

We have had a steady stream of visitors over the past several months. Please pray that the Lord would bless them through his truth and even put it in their hearts to join with us. We do have some new people seeking church membership and we hope that will become official over the next couple months. One need that we have is to find a new facility that will better accommodate our needs. As we come to mind, please pray for us in this regard. 

We are thankful for the association and pray for God’s rich blessings upon his churches.
