If you are anything like me, being called a “Carnal Christian” is akin to being called cursed at. I believed that the two terms were completely incompatible. How could a “Christian”, someone with the indwelling Holy Spirit, live a carnal life? It just did not compute. You can go across America on any given Sunday … More Devotional/Study – “Carnal Christians” – 10/06/2025
COMMENT Last week, we examined what I titled “Death of the Law.” As in today’s Devotional, I relied on John MacArthur’s book, Before the Face of God, and the Baptist Catechism for the foundation of the post. Today, the sources remain the same, as the devotional is another of MaArthur’s from the same book. Here, … More Devotion/Study – “Usefulness of God’s Law” – 09/30/2025
COMMENT Our adult Sunday Bible Study has been working its way through the Baptist Catechism. We have been in the section relating to God’s Law, and this Sunday, we continued our study of the fourth commandment, Remember the Sabbath. We discussed questions 65, ‘How is the Sabbath to be sanctified?’ and 66, ‘What is forbidden in … More Devotional – “Death of the Law” – 09/24/2025
Maybe it is just me, but more and more it seems that one side or the other is trying to twist or interpret the US Constitution to fit their agenda. We hear catch phrases like ‘it is a living, breathing document’ meant to be construed as the times change (Living Constitutionalism). I am of a … More U.S. Constitution Day – 09/17/2025
It has been a few days since my last post. For a variety of reasons, I have been unable to write until this late on Monday afternoon CST, here in Mississippi. Today’s theme verse comes from Isaiah chapter 5, verse 20 (AMP): Woe (judgment is coming) to those who call evil good, and good evil; … More Commentary – “Moral Depravity” – 09/15/2025
In my daily readings, I have been working my way through The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment, a book I highly recommend for all Christians. Today’s reading deals with Psalm 91:10, and if it is so that no evil will befall thee, how can folks get the plague? While in this day and age we … More STUDY – “No Evil Befall Thee” – 09/10/2025

To lay hold of and receive the gospel by a true and saving faith is an act of the soul that has been made a new creature, which is the workmanship of God. Whoever receives the grace … More Friday’s Feature Quote – “Lay Hold of and Receive the Gospel” – 08/30/2025

As my readers are aware, John MacArthur recently passed away to glory. To say he had an influence on my life would be a slight understatement. It was his book, Why One Way, that opened my eyes to the reality of God’s sovereignty in all things and especially in my “accepting” Him as saviour.
