Barronelle Stutzman’s Long Obedience and the Failure of the Court

I am not an attorney so I have no clue how SCOTUS decides which cases it will hear and which ones it will turn away. One would have thought this case was a clear-cut violation of the owner’s rights. Maybe they deemed they had already settled the argument in MASTERPIECE CAKESHOP, LTD., ET AL. v. COLORADO CIVIL RIGHTS COMMISSION ET AL. But we all know the state of Colorado is still going after Mr. Phillips.

This is an excellent article on the matter.

On Friday, in an act of what can only be described as dereliction, the Supreme Court of the United States refused to hear the case of Arlene’s Flowers, Inc. vs. Washington. In refusing to hear this case, the Court has failed to bring clarity to a situation it ultimately created.

Why The Greatest Gift the Church Can Give Us Is Forgiveness

We have all been there and seen them, individuals or churches as a whole who shun ex-inmates or those who do not “conform” to their ideal of the “perfect” Christian. Simply put that is Legalism and has no place in any CHURCH. Basically, they are saying Christ’s atonement was good enough for only those they chose. I want to be careful here and clearly state neither I nor the author is making a case for open widespread forgiveness when church disciple need be applied. That is clearly something different and greatly lacking in evangelical churches today.

The term cancel culture evokes images of screaming undergrads, de-platformed speakers, fired employees, and demanding protesters. However, the cancel culture ethic doesn’t simply exist “out there” in the larger culture; it has infiltrated our homes. Our dinner tables have become personal social media platforms…

Why Defend Freedom for Everyone, Everywhere, All the Time?

BP Email Header-01

The greatest enemy of freedom can be freedom.

One of the most important observations that I gleaned from one of Os Guinness’s books is that celebrating the acquisition of liberty and freedom (what we celebrate this weekend is our acquisition of freedom) is typical in the world’s history. But what is really unusual is sustaining freedom…

How the Image of God Offers Freedom

Chuck Colson would often say that the greatest gift Christianity gave the world other than the message of salvation is the idea of the image of God.

It is important for Christians to know and understand the image of God for three distinct reasons…

When Inclusivity Becomes Incoherence

Like his Democratic predecessor, President Biden has prioritized LGBTQ rights in both the domestic and foreign policies of the United States. The administration’s priorities were made most obvious in early June when an enormous rainbow flag was hung outside the U.S. embassy to the Vatican. While “trolling” the Roman Catholic Church isn’t usually a diplomatic priority, officials made their intentions clear by tweeting: “The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See celebrates #PrideMonth with the Pride flag on display during the month of June. The United States respects the dignity and equality of LGBTQI+ people”…

Is China’s Next Leap Forced Procreation?

BP Email Header-01

China’s next great leap forward could be forced procreation, and it’s animated by the same ideas that energize so much of the West. In 1957, Chinese dictator Mao Zedong told a Yugoslav official that his nation did not fear a nuclear attack: “What if they killed 300 million of us?” he said. “We would still have many people left.”…

Culture Wars and the Whole Counsel of God

ThePoint_Wide_Subtitle

My friend Dan Darling recently offered insight on an oddity of Christian subculture. He tweeted, “If ‘stop fighting culture wars’ means rejecting irrational fear and worship of politics, yes. If it means ignoring Jesus’ command to love our neighbors by using our voice and vote to speak and work against injustices that hurt our neighbors’ flourishing, then no.”

Is Christian Cohabitation the New Norm?

BreakPoint Daily

Recently, researchers at State University of New York determined that descendants of immigrants to the United States typically lost the ability to speak their mother tongue by the third generation. Something similar, but far more serious, seems to be happening with Christians in an increasingly post-Christian culture. Each successive generation is losing the understanding of, not to mention the will to live by, Christian sexual morality…
