Is Christianity Evil? Has it had a bad influence on history? Many today claim this to be a fact and are doing all they can to eradicate Judeo-Christian principles from the world.
Before going {on} there, however, it would serve God’s reputation and our credibility well to make the same confession once voiced by Tony Campolo: “We have met the enemy and they are partly right.” Jesus once said that only the truth can set us fully free to be his people (John 8:32). The painful truth is that atheism has a foothold today in part because there have been many times in history when people of Christian faith (or marching beneath some other religion’s flag) have sinned boldly against God and people. Whether by ignorance, pride, greed, or some other deadly sin, they have repeated the very atrocities by which ostensibly religious people crucified Jesus because he threatened their institutional power or personal throne.1
Because of the sins of so-called Christians, many have done their best to downplay the influence Christianity has had and continues to have on the world. Yet as our Text for today notes the TRUTH will free your mind and soul from these corrupt lies.
Christians can never forget that we are forever linked to the Jewish people, especially the nation of Israel as we share the common history of the Old Testament Law. One only has to study the Obama era and now Biden administration policies to see the pattern of The Left’s Planned Destruction of the Judeo-Christian World.
Christianity is accurately the DNA by which world history finds its life and development, and as time moves forward, so its influence continues to grow and mature in our society. Many don’t realize, but almost every aspect of our western context finds its roots and foundational development in Christianity.
