The reproach a dying woman addressed to John Newton
“You often spoke to me of Christ, but oh you did not tell me enough about my danger.”

As noted, the above quote is attributed to one of John Newton’s letters as referred to by Robert Murray M’Cheyne, although I could not verify either source.
What one should not doubt is the meaning of the quote. Both Newton and M’Cheyne were staunch advocates for preaching the Whole Counsel of God. We cannot pick and choose the verses or the interpretation of said verses. We cannot preach or teach the Love of God without the Wrath of God.
