How many of you have heard someone say they are an atheist and that they “do not believe in God”? Do you know that their statement is totally unbiblical?
This past Sunday we visited with Pastor Don Elbourne and the folks at Lakeshore Baptist Church I do not remember how the Sunday school discussion got from The Apostles Creed to Atheists but it did. It was at that point Pastor Don reminded us all that the saying ‘Atheists do not believe in God’ is wrong it is really “God does not believe in Atheists”.
How do we know this to be a fact it is quite simple, the inerrant, infallible Word of God tells us so:
because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense. Romans 1:19-20 (AMP)
