Violence— A Problem of the Heart

Image result for Violence--- A Problem of the Heart

Violence…
is a problem of the heart…
and it’s from this point…
that analysis needs to start.
For the society we’re in…
has been desensitized today…
by things seen on television,
video games and words some say.
And there’s a bitterness…
and anger that seems to linger…
that causes many to become violent…
when something becomes a trigger.
And like a drunk driver’s wrong…
and the vehicle’s not to blame…
the gun’s not at fault…
when a crazed shooter goes insane.
And like a pharmacy is not at fault…
with a drug addict buys or deals…
the problem is in the heart…
of one who kills, destroys, and steals.
For there is much violence…
seen in many homes today…
and children are desensitized…
when they witness any violence this way.
So what can we do…
as a society to make a change…
we need to have God in our hearts…
so our lives will not be the same.
We need to invite God back…
in our schools and in our homes…
then transformation can occur…
when the Love of Christ is known.
For only God can being healing…
to the hardness of any heart…
so He is the Key to our future…
where all violence will depart.

What The Enemy Meant For Harm…

As I remember some of the events in my life that occurred during this week several years ago, the words came to me, “What the enemy meant for harm, God turned it around for your good.” My whole life has changed since these events… and yours can too.

This is not a new phenomenon of course but in the age of computers and such,  there is really no excuse for a “believer”  not living daily as a Berean (Acts 17:11). Yet far to many follow the Jews of old, Jeremiah 6:10 ESV “To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, they cannot listen; behold, the word of the Lord is to them an object of scorn; they take no pleasure in it.” or those of the modern church Paul warned of 2 Timothy 2:3-4  “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”  I cannot count the number of times I have heard “my Pastor says or said” and when I ask, great but what does the Word of God say?  It is a rarity when I do not get that deer in the headlights look of confusion. – Mike

Revealing What’s in Our Hearts (2 Timothy 1:3-9)

Revealing what’s in our hearts…
is not always easy to do…
like exposing secrets of our pasts…
with traumas that have wounded you.
But God raises up the broken…
for such a time as this…
to no longer cower in secret…
but to step boldly and take risks…

“Do You Trust Me?”

“Do you trust Me?”…
were the words I heard God say…
as I voiced all my concerns today…
while talking to Him as I pray.
And then I had to repent…
for my worldly concerns or fears…
when I heard Him say these words…
though I knew He was always near.
For God does not want us to worry…
or to have even a single concern…
He just wants us to rest in Peace…
and walk in faith as we learn.
So as we pray for our children,
finances, and entire family…
He wants us to lay it all down…
and trust Him with it in entirety.
No concerns for the future…
and no fear of the unknown…
for He holds it all in His Hands…
and His faithfulness is always shown.
Now He knows what we need…
and even our hearts deepest desire…
but He just wants us to trust Him…
and seek Him with hearts afire.
For there’s no thought that He misses…
and nothing that He does not see…
but it all comes together in an instant,
when you hear, “Do you trust Me?”

Dear Lord!! Yes, I trust You Lord!! I trust You with my life, children,  finances, and my entire family! I trust You with my book, our future, and entire ministry.  Lord, we just humbly lay all our concerns down at Your Feet and say Lord have Your way… and though we don’t see the outcome, we will trust You with it all anyway. We pray for all the broken who struggle with life and need your guiding Hand. We ask You to touch them and lead them in ways that they won’t even understand. Help us all to walk in total faith, not by sight; and be led by Your Spirit and Your guiding Light. That all Your plans and purposes for our lives will be achieved as we walk in faith and total trust with Your promises believed… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FORGIVING—is Not Forgetting

As victims of abuse…

many make this mistake…

trying to stay friends with abusers…

but continued abuses we take.

For we associate the need to forgive…

with the belief that we need to forget.

But when we pretend it didn’t happen…

more abuses occur that we will regret.

For forgiveness does not mean forgetting…

it just means releasing the hurts of the past…

for God is our Righteous Judge…

and vindication is part of His tasks.

But to extend forgiveness…

without necessitating a  change of heart…

allows the evil to continue…

and that cycle that many just can’t depart.

Matthew 18:21-22

“Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”

The bible does command us to forgive those who have sinned against us, I too have search and do not find where God commands us to forget. That is not to say God in His loving-kindness can not and does not graciously erase the bad memories of many believers; but not all.
The typical question I get at this point is “why not me”, and my response can only be truthfully I do not know, I am not God. What I do know, what trust in, and hope you do too, is His sovereignty. He controls all things, has a plan for all things to His glory even this. I know that a day with God is better than any day without no matter the circumstances.
