Devotional Thought for Today – 10/21/2020

I am back in school and for the near future at least will be posting in this format.

Psalm 1 | Brookville Baptist Church

PSALM 1

Psalms stats with the 3 verses describing a happy man. A biblical happy man is one who does not v.1 walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, meaning he puts the values of God before mans. Second he v.1 he does not stand in the way of sinners, which means he stands apart from the worldliness around him. Lastly,  he does not sit in the seat of the scornful. This means hanging out with (fellowshipping) with the unsaved instead of like minded believers.

While there can be no doubt the evangelism causes one to Go forth into the world (Matthew 28:18-20), we should also be clear that no where does the bible encourage or ordain the us becoming like the world.  We are to separate ourselves from within the world, those that would pollute the clear teachings of the Gospel and anyone who would threaten to destroy Christianity.

The reminder of Psalm 1 is a contrast between two men. The godly and the unrepentant. In the end one knoweth the way of the righteous {eternal life}: but the other shall perish.
