Light is an important topic in the Bible from the very beginning Genesis 1:3-5 when God chose to separate the darkness and saw the light was good.
It is God who is our light, Psalm 18:28 it is He who brings us out of the darkness and guides us Exodus 13:21.
In Psalm 27:1 we see that the Lord is our Light and our Salvation. He is our fountain of life whose light is ours Psalm 36:9.
It is God’s word that illuminates (lights up) the path (lives) we take, Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 6:23, Psalm 119:130, Isaiah 42:16 and gives us understanding.
Yet natural man does not want the light, John 3:19-21, because his deeds and heart are evil. So it is important to understand we who claim to be in the light but walk in darkness 1 John 1:5-7 proclaim so falsely.
It is the job (mission) of every true believer to share the walk in and share the light 1 John 1:5 because once we were as lost children of the darkness but are now children of the light Ephesians 5:8.
